Every worthy story must have five basic fundamentals: setting, theme, plot, style, and characters. Our Resort story sure is a special one…
The setting: the magnificent Lake Coeur d’Alene. More specifically, a wonderland of over 1.5 million lights and the largest on-the-water holiday light display in America.
The theme: family. Or maybe the holidays. What about a combination of both? Yes, that sounds right: the theme is perfectly set as the family during the holidays. Frequent descriptors include “magical”, “enchanting”, “unforgettable” and, quite simply, “fun”. Totally intriguing so far, right?
The plot: a fairy-tale journey to the North Pole to visit Santa and see his brand new “sleigh” (souped-up with flames and all!). Most importantly, the kiddos excitedly partake on this special voyage to see if they made it on Santa’s “Nice List” this year!
The style: the definition of a “narrative” is as follows: “a spoken or written account of connected events; a story”. Our story is not only a special, playful, and imaginative one, but it’s also a story that families and children will be telling for years to come.
The characters: families, children, couples, friends, co-workers, and even adventurers from near and far! Our Holiday Light Show audience is a diverse group of people all coming together for one single purpose: to enjoy the magic and enchantment of the holidays here with us at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. Oh, and did I mention that the Grinch and Santa Clause will be there, too? They are important characters after all!
Recently selected as one of the top Holiday Light Show’s in America by USA Today Readers’ Choice List, our unique and special Holiday Light Show features thousands of festive animated displays across the beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene. Our signature “Journey to the North Pole” Holiday Lake Cruise visits Santa’s North Pole Toy Workshop where America’s Tallest Floating Christmas Tree towers above the lake with thousands of twinkling lights. This season, Santa’s elves have a special fireworks show waiting for each visit to the North Pole.
Jade and Hunter (pictured above) made the magical journey to visit Santa with their family this year.
When asked what her favorite part of the cruise was, Jade wasted no time letting me know what a spectacular evening her and her siblings had. “I actually saw Santa! He waved at me and even said my name! And I was really happy because he said my brother’s and sister’s names too,” Jade said. “But he didn’t say my mom’s and my dad’s name…they must not have made the nice list this year,” she added with a giggle.
On the other hand, Hunter didn’t seem all too concerned about making the nice list. Rather, he had lots to say about Santa’s brand new sleigh. “His sleigh was so big and had so many presents in it,” Hunter excitedly explained to me. “And it had really big fire, even bigger than in our fireplace at home!” he added.
Jade and Hunter’s parents got a kick out of the entire evening, too. “My family thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and it truly made Christmas special for our kiddos,” said Jeremy, their father. “From meeting Santa’s Elves who greeted us and led us to our boat, to the beautiful light display along the way, it was truly a magical journey from start to finish. My wife and I both enjoyed watching the amazing fireworks display and the festive holiday music truly capped off the entire adventure. We all had an awesome experience and are excited to make this an annual holiday tradition for our entire family.”
A fleet of cruise boats depart every evening through the holiday season to view the magic of the holiday lights across the lake. Purchase your tickets by calling (855) 379-5478 or online by clicking here.
