
Weddings
State of Idaho Marriage Regulations (effective through 2008)
Bride and groom are both required to be present and must obtain their
own marriage license prior to their wedding date.
In order to get married in the State of Idaho:
- To be legally married in Idaho, an Idaho Marriage License is required.
- Both
persons must be currently unmarried.
- Both persons must be
present to apply for the license.
- Application must be completed
in the County Clerk’s office at
the Kootenai County Courthouse in the presence of a county
employee.
- Premarital AIDS Education pamphlets are given to
all applicants to read. After the pamphlet is read and
understood, the applicants sign and date the certificate,
which is then attached to the marriage joint affidavit.
- Blood tests
are not required. There is no waiting period.
- Witnesses
are not required.
- The Marriage License is valid for 12 months
and is effective the day applied for.
- The Marriage License
is valid in the entire State of Idaho.
Marriage License Fee
In Kootenai County, the Marriage License fee is $28.00, in
cash, Monday through Friday. The Marriage License is $45.00, in cash,
on Saturday.
Exact cash is preferred, no other form of payment other than cash is
accepted!
The Kootenai County Administration Building issues Marriage
Licenses between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday,
except legal holidays, and 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays, except legal
holiday weekends.
