Paulo Coelho once said, “Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.”
I, for one, certainly couldn’t agree more, And, as such, I plan to have at least a sip of whatever kind I’m offered at the first ever Food & Wine Festival!
You read that right. If you weren’t still on culinary Cloud 9 from the Mac & Cheese Festival from earlier this year, there’s even more reason to praise the gastronomical gods. On April 6 and 7, The Coeur d’Alene Resort is bringing the Food and Wine Festival to town. The event will feature wine tasting seminars, cooking classes with award-winning chefs, fantastic luncheons with hand-selected wine pairings, and the opportunity to attend two wonderful chef dinners, all culminating Saturday night with the Lakeside Dinner Experience (more on that below!)
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always loved gathering around the table with friends, splitting a few bottles of wine while we whip, sauté and grill our way through the evening, creating culinary treats and memories. However, I’ve always wished I knew more about what wines go with what dishes, and how to pick the best bottle. This festival will answer all those questions, and more!
It starts on Friday, with the Taste at Twilight Opening Reception, including live music and a rooftop bartender competition.
On Saturday, the day begins early with a champagne brunch, full of homemade pastries and an indulgent Mimosa bar. The day is packed with cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, cocktail how-to’s and even an educational class on Kombucha creations. Each event is unique, perfect for learning something new and sampling something delightful. Oh, and did we mention that Top Chef’s Chad White of Zona Blanca Restaurant will be joining us? Bring on the ceviche-filled fun!
The night culminates the Lakeside Dinner Experience. A 45-minute cruise starts the night, packed with live music and culinary stations, after which you’ll arrive at the Hagadone Event Center for a breathtaking view and four-course dinner, complete with wine tasting. After the meal, enjoy live music and the winner of Friday night’s cocktail competition!
