For over three decades, The Coeur d'Alene Resort has been adorning it's property with a sea of 30,000 tango red geraniums every year. This horticultural feat has become a beloved tradition, eagerly anticipated by locals and visitors alike. The geraniums serve as a vibrant symbol of the Resort's founders, Mr. Duane Hagadone, as they were his mother’s favorite flowers.

Fifty plus team members of The Resort will kick off the planting on “Geranium Hill”, the large flower bed in front of The Coeur d’Alene Resort's main entrance. Once the hill is painted red with vibrancy and life, the gardening mission will continue at The Hagadone Event Center and Gardens, at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, The Boardwalk Bridge, The Hagadone Corporation Office, The Plaza Shops, The Johnston Building, The Coeur d’Alene Press, The Hagadone Marine Complex and The Silver Beach Marina.

There are three steps to the geranium-planting process: drill, drop, and toss. First, a hole is drilled in the dirt to fit the plant. Second, the geranium is dropped in position. Third, a detailer removes and tosses the plastic from the plant and then packs the dirt snugly around it to secure its position for the season.

This remarkable tradition not only showcases The Resort's dedication to providing an unforgettable experience, but also serves as a celebration of the beauty that can be found in even the simplest of things.
