The dream team of activity planners at The Resort constantly surprises us with lively, innovative fun events that turn The Coeur d’Alene Resort into a year-round adult fun camp that draws guests and participants from Canada, Montana, Washington, North Idaho and beyond.
Kids aren’t left out, either, and many of The Resort’s events are perfectly suited for youngsters.
2018 was an exceptionally creative year. From food to poolside frolicking to healthy getaways, here’s a rundown of last year’s events and a peek at what you can expect in 2019.
Cheesy Comfort Food
We hit the mother lode of comfort food last year with our first Mac & Cheese Festival. It was such a success we’re doing it again.
Yes, your mom’s recipe is the best ever, but you will be amazed at the creative and tasty concoctions the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s chefs dream up for this festival. These maestros live to transform a tried-and-true recipe in to a “wow” experience. Enjoy craft beer and cast your vote for the Golden Noodle Award.
And because the Resort’s Dream Team never stops with “just” an event, they’ve developed everything from an overnight getaway package, to night-of offerings, to kiddo’s-too tickets, to a Mac Cruise on Lake Coeur d’Alene featuring a global menu that includes wonderful creations from Italy, Mexico and the U.S. There’s also a gourmet option, the Macaroni & Fromage Wine Dinner at elegant Beverly’s atop the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
The second annual Mac & Cheese Festival is just around the corner so get your tickets for the January 19, 2019, event. Explore the details HERE!
The Food and Wine Festival Rocked!
Foodies flocked to The Resort’s first-time Food and Wine Festival in April to enjoy an extravaganza of exotic, delicious gourmet food and the region’s top wine.
A champagne brunch got Saturday off to a happy start, then we all proceeded to cooking demonstrations and classes where they learned how to prepare everything from alder planked salmon, to Mexican ceviche. A seemingly endless supply of local wines was served during all of the classes.
The Resort’s chefs had another opportunity to impress at the Winemaker’s Lunch where perfectly paired local wines accompanied each extravagant course.
And there was more. We boarded a Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruise boat for a sunset sail to the Hagadone Event Center where we sat at enormous family-style tables decorated with spring-like bouquets and hubcap-sized cobalt blue bowls heaped with fresh seafood. Food stations lined the perimeter of the room and wine makers offered tastings at several stations. The evening ended with dancing into the wee hours.
The weekend was a huge hit so stay tuned for details on 2019’s Food and Wine Festival.
The Resort makes National TV
Katy Perry called Coeur d’Alene “Heaven on earth” when she and the American Idol team held auditions here last fall. Fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were equally happy to be away from the hustle and bustle of routine studio auditions. No promises that Idol will return next year, but we can keep our fingers crossed.
Because Fitness Matters
We had three Bike to Work Days in 2018. Employees were encouraged to cycle to their job, with some riding 30 or so miles from Spokane. All participants got a free breakfast and some of the lucky riders won raffle prizes. Will we do it next year? You bet your rock-hard quads. We’ll welcome spring, celebrate summer and zip into fall with more Bike to Work Days in 2019.
Mermaids Visit the Resort
Mystical mermaids graced the Infinity Pool last summer for our July Kick-Off Party. Guests – especially the children — were delighted to see two lovely creatures gliding and diving in the pool. As every true sailor knows, mermaids are a bit unpredictable so we cannot guarantee they will return in 2019, but we can send out the siren call.
The Coeur d’Alene Resort’s first Lakeside Yoga Retreat in October drew a mellow crowd for a weekend of meditation, yoga, fresh kombucha, guided hikes and spa time. What better setting for a revitalizing, renewing getaway than breathtaking Lake Coeur d’Alene. Instructors from The Union Yoga led us through strenuous yet relaxing vinyasa workouts (I know, that’s a bit of an oxymoron), offered tips and instruction, shared yoga philosophy and guided us through meditation.
Bare Culture Kombucha enlightened us on the history and health benefits of this ancient Asian drink. Kombucha contains probiotics and there is increasing evidence indicates it aids digestion and strengthens the immune system.
The Disappearing Green
Not to worry. The Green was towed two miles away to Murphy Marine Construction for maintenance and will spend the winter getting spiffed up for the 2019 golf season. You probably won’t notice the new sand, environmentally friendly state-of-the-art hydraulic equipment, updated cables and winches, sandblasted and recoated water storage tanks, new wood siding and framing, but it’s all part of the refurbishing project that will put the Floating Green in tip-top shape for its return in March 2019.
The Resort Gets a Face Lift
Over the past three years, we have been diligently upgrading The Resort from top to bottom.
We partnered with Northwest Bedding to furnish all 338 Guest rooms with ultra-comfortable new beds, and the décor has been upgraded with a modern vibe. You’ll find wave-patterned carpets that echo the lake, stylish headboards, chic furniture and new wall coverings. New technology includes state-of-the-art charging stations for all of your devices and ultra-high 4K definition television screens where you can stream personal photos and videos from your mobile devices.
The Convention Center has been updated, too, with energetic new carpets, tasteful wall coverings, comfortable lounge benches, state-of-the-art technology and more. We host dozens of meetings, seminars and events each year and we’re proud to show off our updated facilities.
It’s still The Resort you’ve grown to know and love, just a bit brighter and more comfy. Come a meal, an event or an overnight and see for yourself.
