Top 4 Best Dessert Places in CDA
Coeur d’Alene is home to some great restaurants- whatever you’re craving, you’re sure to find just a quick hop, step, or jump away! If you’re anything like me, you need something sweet to cap off the perfect meal. I’ve tried and tasted some of the best dessert spots in Coeur d’Alene, so next time you’re looking for an afternoon pick-me-up, after dinner treat, or ‘just because’ treat, check out one of these places:

1. Woops! Coeur d’Alene Bakeshop
First off, if you’re into picture-worthy places- Woops! is it. The shop is colorful and bright- the perfect place to enjoy some of their French macarons or other fresh-baked pastries. The macarons come in over 15 different flavors such as Honey Lavender, Red Velvet, Espresso Macchiato, and Lemon Tart. Order a couple macarons to taste, build your own to-go box, or purchase gift boxes to bring home to friends and family (you’re sure to be the star of your next office party, birthday bash, or get together with a package of Woops! Macarons under your arm!). Plus, macarons are gluten-free.
Taylor’s Pick: Coconut Macaron. The filling is made from white chocolate ganache and tropical coconut milk. The shells are covered with toasted coconut, which adds a lovely layer of texture and flavor.
2. Dockside Family Restaurant
The only thing better than trying delicious desserts is being surrounded by expansive lake views. Dockside checks both of those boxes. If you haven’t heard of their signature Gooey Dessert yet- you’re missing out! Enjoy a larger-than-life ice cream sundae — mounds of ice creams, syrups, chocolate and candies that fill a giant cup made for sharing. Flavors such as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Royal Cheesecake, and Chocolate Obsession are always on the menu, joined by a rotating ‘Gooey of the Month’. Don’t feel like sharing one of these delicious desserts? Any Gooey can be made in a personal size! Not an ice cream fan? Dockside also has a variety of signature cakes (like the Limoncello Cake, Caramel Cashew Cake, and Cake Pops), Wild Huckleberry Deep Dish Cobbler, and Hand Dipped Milkshakes. For those with food sensitivities, Dockside also offers a variety of gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free options!
Taylor’s Pick: Go with the Gooey of the Month! March 2020’s ‘Gooey of the Month’ is “March Peanut Madness”: peanut butter and chocolate ice creams layered with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, chopped salted peanuts, and mini Reese’s Pieces, topped with peanut cluster bark and a basketball cookie.

3. Abi’s Artisan Ice Cream
Abi’s, recently voted “Best Place in Coeur d’Alene for Ice Cream”, makes their ice cream on-site daily. Every flavor is peanut and tree-nut free and they strive to provide dairy free, gluten free and vegan ‘ice cream’ options so everyone has the opportunity to enjoy ice cream. With daily flavors and seasonal options- their menu is ever-changing. Enjoy unique flavor combinations like Spicy Mango, Strawberry Balsamic, and Rose Petal White Chocolate Chip, or variations on favorites like Arnold Palmer Sorbet, Coffee Toffee, and Bailey’s Irish Cream. Aside from ice cream, they also offer delicious cookies and brownies (ice cream sandwiches, anyone?), biscottis, and Root Beer Floats. Make sure to bring your four-legged friend along with you- Abi’s also makes dog-friendly sorbets!
Taylor’s Pick: Malted Vanilla Toffee Chocolate Chip. Since flavors change daily, expand your ice cream horizons and go with a unique flavor in one of their homemade waffle cones!
4. Mrs. Honeypeeps Sweet Shop
If candy is your treat of choice, Mrs. Honeypeeps Sweet Shop is the place to go! With container upon container of bulk candy, you can mix and match your way to a full bag of sugary goodness. Rare and hard-to-find treats from back in the day line the shelves, including massive lollipops, jawbreakers, and gummy candies.
Taylor’s Pick: Feeling risky? Choose one of their secret pre-made candy mix bags! The opaque bag hides the contents inside, so it’s fun to grab a bag with friends and compare, trade, and sample each other’s candies. If the weather’s nice, pick up a bag on your way to stroll the Floating Boardwalk!
Drooling yet? Next time you’re in need of something sweet, make sure to give one of these places a try- you may just find your new favorite treat! As the weather warms up and spring kicks into full gear, take your treats outside and enjoy along Sherman Avenue, the Floating Boardwalk, and the edge of Lake Coeur d’Alene for a true Northern Idaho experience!
