The Gooey Monster, Created by Local Lake City High School Student, Makes Debut on Dockside Menu
Dockside Restaurant, located on the lobby level inside The Coeur d’Alene Resort, is excited to announce a new Gooey that is joining the permanent Gooey Dessert Menu: The Gooey Monster. This new Gooey secured a spot on the new dessert menu by receiving the most orders from the three flavor finalists during March.
The fun started back in February when guests submitted their own Gooey ideas for consideration. The Dockside culinary team taste-tested them and picked three finalists to showcase as Gooeys of the Month during March. These finalist flavors were Salted Caramel S’Mores, Royal Cheesecake and The Gooey Monster. The Gooey with the most orders earned a spot on the permanent dessert menu.
The winning creation was submitted by Marlee Lambert, age 15, from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Lambert, a student at Lake City High School, says, “I love Dockside and I go with my friends all the time. I thought it would be fun to show my personal ideas with my Gooey. I love cookie dough and my family loves cookies ‘n cream so I decided to include those.”
The Gooey Monster features cookies ‘n’ cream ice cream, vanilla ice cream, cookie dough, fresh baked cookie chunks, hot fudge, and a Cookie Monster inspired cookie, all topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips.
From March 1 through March 31 Dockside sold a total of 1,274 of the three finalists Gooey desserts. The Gooey Monster won with 47% of orders. That’s an average of 20 per day. As one of the most popular dessert menu items, Dockside makes more than 5,000 Gooey desserts in an average month.
The Gooey first made its appearance 30 years ago. The Resort’s Executive Chef and culinary team were tasked with creating a signature dessert that could match Duane Hagadone’s vision for something big and glorious. During taste-tests of the mountain of ice cream with carefully crafted toppings, someone declared, “this is so gooey!” Thus, the Gooey was born. These decadent desserts contain nearly a pound of ice cream alone, plus all the toppings.
While the original size Gooey desserts are best to be enjoyed by two or more, smaller personal size Gooey desserts are also available. The world-famous dessert menu also features items like The Resort’s signature cheesecake, fresh cobbler, cakes, pies and crème brulee.
The new Gooey’s dessert menu is now available at Dockside. Try Lambert’s winning creation or one of the other 5 signature Gooey desserts on the menu. Plus, there is always a new Gooey of the Month for those taste-bud adventure seekers.
